Plastic Plants

How do you clean brown algae from plastic plants?
And is there any way to prevent it from coming back?
Hmm, real plants in an oscar tank? I don’t think it’ll work.
Take the plastic plant and scrub it under a running tap with a clean cloth (that has never come into contact with any soaps). FYI plastic plants can often be too sharp for fish and tear fins, drag the plant over a pair of tights, if it snags, it will snag fish too!
Brown algae, or diatoms, will naturally occur in all new tanks as it greedily feeds on silicates which holds new tanks together. Just keep up with your weekly tank maintenance and it will gradually go away with time.
